Auto chips and parts are in short supply: orders are scheduled for the second half of 2023
According to DIGITIMES, in the latest news of the supply chain, the demand for micro-control units and microprocessor chips of automobiles is still high, and relevant core component suppliers, including OSAT and packaging materials, have definite orders by 2023. But the specific market demand is still unclear.
Thanks to the rapid development of smart trams, the value of power semiconductors, mainly IGBT modules, power integrated modules and power mosfets, is also rising. For example, the MCU chips provided by STMicroelectronics have been loved by a large number of car companies. According to the latest supply chain news, some leading OSAT companies have received orders for automotive MCU back-end outsourcing in the next two quarters from global IDM companies, and have basically determined the order items for 2023. Overall, the development momentum is quite rapid. In addition to the strong demand for MCUs, IGBT modules are also not to be underestimated. It is predicted that by 2025, China's IGBT market space will reach 60.1 billion yuan, taking the lead in the world.
It has to be said that MCU chips have always been the main force of the "missing core" of smart trams. In smart trams, in order to achieve multiple functions and precise control, almost every module or function requires an MCU chip. Compared with traditional cars, such as BMW's ambient light, there is an LED lamp bead every 20 cm, while Each lamp bead needs to be equipped with an MCU responsible for dimming, which is only the tip of the iceberg of MCU applications in the vehicle. It is not difficult to see that the MCU market has huge potential and has become one of the most competitive tracks among semiconductor manufacturers.
However, due to the unusually sluggish performance of the consumer electronics market in the first half of this year, IDMs in the United States, Japan and Europe are quite cautious when negotiating MCU orders in the second half of 2023, and do not rule out the possibility of reducing orders. But in general, automotive MCUs and microprocessor chips are still the most popular in various semiconductor projects. At present, many domestic manufacturers are trying to enter this field normally, such as Yangjie Technology, Jiejie Microelectronics and Dongwei Semiconductor, etc. Among them, Dongwei Semiconductor has begun to realize small-scale mass production of IGBT modules, and the next market competition will become more intense.
